Language Arts Classes & Fees


Elementary Language Arts Classes
Elementary language arts includes hands-on lessons, games, activities, and practice in phonics or spelling, grammar, handwriting, creative expression, literature concepts, reading, critical thinking and vocabulary. In addition to small group lessons, we provide our concept lab to incorporate activities, media, games, projects, and critical thinking challenges to enhance learning and provide a rich experience.

Description of Elementary Language Levels
Phonics readiness and ongoing assessments, introductory phonics, phonics lessons, introductory grammar, handwriting, oral communication skills, creative expression, vocabulary, literatary concepts, and critical thinking.  
Advanced phonics and spelling, grammar, handwriting, oral communication skills, creative expression, vocabulary, literature concepts, reading, and critical thinking.
Spelling, grammar, literature, critical thinking, handwriting, creative expression, research, public speaking practice, book creation, story telling, journaling, and collaborative language-based projects.

Meets September-May, twice weekly for 30 weeks:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:15 - 2:30

Middle and High School English Classes
Middle and High School language arts are literature based and include a variety of practices, projects and assignments chosen for their high interest to students, leading to mastery of communication through the spoken and written word.  Creative expression, practical skills, dictation, reading of quality literature, literary elements and analysis, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, reasoning, research, collaborative projects, and public speaking are all included in our literature based language arts classes.  High School also includes advanced essay writing, test prep, credit for speech and debate, and literary courses for credit.

Middle and High School English Fees
Curriculum & Supply Fee: $150/year
Tuition:     1-day weekly - $360/year

Middle School English I
At this level, we help students learn skills necessary to complete assignments independently including help with planning, brainstorming, and completing their writing projects. Literature, dictation, vocabulary, spelling, editing, grammar, oral practice, and critical thinking are also included in our English courses.   
Meets:     September -May for 30 weeks
                    Tuesday 12:00 - 1:15

Middle School English II
At this level, students can complete assignments independently and we help them with improving their writing and editing skills. This group practices a variety of weekly writing practices and assignments, advanced story telling, grammar, editing, and beginning essay writing. Literature, vocabulary, critical thinking, research, and public speaking are also included.  
Meets:  Tuesday from 1:15 - 2:30


High School English I

At this level, students can complete assignments independently and we help them with improving their writing and editing skills. This group practices a variety of weekly writing practices and assignments, advanced story telling, grammar, editing, and beginning essay writing. Literary elements, vocabulary, critical thinking, research, and public speaking are also included.

High School English Advanced
Prior approval by instructor required.
We help teens learn how to think, argue, and create their own writing style. Students learn essay writing, including compare and contrast, narrative writing,  expository,  writing thesis statements, documenting sources, paraphrasing, and viewpoint.  
Meets: Thursday from 1:15 - 2:30
